Yaqoomia Welfare Hospital
Mandi Faizabad, District Nankana Sahib
Established 2009

The Yaqoomia Welfare Hospital established in 2009 in Mandi Faizabad, District Nankana is completely free of charge medical facility open for the general public consisting of OPD, Gynecology, Ophthalmology and Diabetes departments, with state of the art testing equipment and laboratories on-site. The hospital has a permanent staff of 8 specialist doctors and 40 medical attendants who provide medical services on a full-time basis to all visitors without any discrimination.

Mandi Faizabad is considered one of the less developed areas of the Nankana Sahib District, with a population of approximately 50,000. Being a rural area, most of the people of the village depend on agriculture. Due to the backward nature of the area, this village has always been deprived of the basic facilities of life, in which health is foremost.

Keeping in mind the non-availability of suitable health facilities to cater to the public, Monal Foundation founded the Yaqoomia Welfare Hospital in 2009 and started providing OPD services in the beginning, in which approx. 2,500 patients were provided free treatment and medicines in the first month. Since 2009, the number of patients seeking treatment has risen exponentially and the number of patients across all departments on a monthly basis in 2022 now stands at 36,000. To-date approximately 3.42 million patients have benefitted from this facility at absolutely no cost.

In the past, due to the non-availability of clean drinking water, most of the village population suffered from life-threatening diseases like hepatitis B and C and the treatment of these diseases was far away from the budget of the common man. Keeping this in mind, the administration of the hospital installed Water Filtration Plants on the premises with public access and started treating hepatitis B & C. In the beginning, around 40 to 50 patients were treated on a monthly basis. To date, the Yaqoomia Welfare Hospital has treated and cured more than 3,000 patients suffering from this disease.

In view of the immense services in regard to hepatitis treatment and general OPD, the villagers insisted on the expansion of the hospital and in 2011, Gynecology & Pediatric Departments were added to the list of services being offered. Gynecologists and child specialists have been appointed to provide the best treatment facilities in this department. From 2011 till date, approximately 100,000 women and 6,000 children have benefited from these treatment facilities.

Seeing the increasing number of diabetes patients in the country, the management of the hospital started a separate department for the treatment of diabetes patients in 2016. In this regard, free medical check-ups for diabetic patients, and life-saving medicines like insulin were started which have given approximately 70,000 patients a new lease on life.

In 2017, the Cardiology department started operations in which the Echocardiography (ECG) facility is being provided free of cost and approximately 19,000 patients have been provided with examinations and medicines to date.

With the objective of facilitating as many of the health concerns of the local population as possible, Yaqoomia Welfare Hospital introduced the Ophthalmology department which is equipped with the latest equipment and machines. Since its inception, the Ophthalmology department has provided free laser treatment to over 67,000 patients in addition to performing corrective eye surgeries for over 600 persons.

In 2021, keeping in mind the trust and convenience of the population towards the hospital, the local Rice Mill Owners Association donated a fully equipped ambulance which has allowed the Yaqoomia Welfare hospital to increase its reach considerably.

From 2009 till date, the Yaqoomia Welfare Hospital has provided free consultation, diagnosis and treatment to approximately 244,000 deserving patients on an annual basis. All these services are being provided at zero cost to the residents of Mandi Faizabad and surroundings for the sole purpose of serving humanity. The hospital does not discriminate on the basis of religion, gender, caste, creed and political affiliation.
